Heat the cocotte over low heat for a few minutes until the oil is absorbed. Wipe off any excess oil. This helps to build up a natural patina over time, enhancing non-stick properties.

  • Cool Down: Always allow the cocotte to cool completely before washing. Submerging a hot cocotte in cold water can cause thermal shock, leading to cracking or chipping of the enamel.
