5.1 Performing a Blood Sample (Fingerstick)

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely.
  2. Ensure a new lancet is inserted and the depth setting is appropriate for your skin type (refer to Section 4.2).

  1. Remove the standard cap and replace it with the clear AST cap.
  2. Select a suitable depth setting (AST generally requires a deeper setting due to thicker skin).
  3. Pull the cocking control back until it clicks.
  4. Press the clear AST cap firmly against the chosen alternative site (e.g., forearm or palm) and hold for a few seconds to create a vacuum.

5.3 Safely Disposing of a Used Lancet

Proper disposal of used lancets is crucial to prevent accidental needle sticks and the spread of infection.
