Stiùireadh Obrachaidh (Cleachdadh)
1. Snorkeling with the Mask and Snorkel
- Anail: Practice breathing slowly and deeply through the snorkel while keeping your face submerged. The 100% dry top valve will prevent water from entering the snorkel when submerged.
- Clearing the Snorkel: If water enters the snorkel (e.g., from waves), exhale sharply to force water out through the silicone purge valve at the bottom.
- Clearing the Mask: If water enters the mask, tilt your head slightly upwards, press the top of the mask firmly against your forehead, and exhale gently through your nose. The low point purge valve will allow water to escape.
- Equalizing Pressure: As you descend, pressure builds on your ears. To equalize, pinch your nose through the soft nose pocket of the mask and gently blow through your nose. Do this frequently as you descend.
2. Using the Fins
- Kicking Technique: Use long, slow, and deliberate kicks from your hips, keeping your legs relatively straight. Avoid short, rapid kicks from the knees, which are less efficient.
